blackberry, juicy citrus, full body, round, sweet

Clear

This coffee is produced in the Tekangu cooperative of 800 farmers in Nyeri County, where some of Kenya’s best coffees are produced. Perfect soil, elevation of 1,600-1,800 masl, excellent rainfall and 70 degree temperature combine for slow cherry maturation and concentrated and complex flavor development.

The farmers cultivate a variety of types: SL 28, SL 34, Batian, and Riuru 11. The washed parchment coffee is fermented in tanks overnight and then sun dried on raised tables for 8 to 14 days. The harvest is October through December.

Juicy, sweet, winey and complex in the cup. Nice.

Years ago when I lived in NYC, I discovered Orens coffee in my neighborhood and brought Kenya to the office – my boss loved it! I ended up being the go-to person for office coffee, and my parents became big fans too, especially with Oren’s cinnamon coffee cake (Oren’s allowed me to buy the whole loaf to bring to them). After moving away, Orens didn’t ship, and I had to cut back on caffeine. But now that I can enjoy coffee again, I’m so excited to discover that Orens ships! No matter how many different blends I try and like as well, I always return to Kenya AA. It brought back great memories with my family and tastes just as amazing now as it did back then.
