Brazil Jazblu Peaberry
$9.35 – $97.75
Creamy sweetness, medium/full body, smooth
The Jazblu Peaberry is a blend from two producers: Obadias Nascimento Rodrigues of Fazenda Canaa and Geraldo de Almeida Sinay of Fazenda Esperanca. These farms are on the plateau in Planalto da Bahia. This region only began coffee production in the 1970’s (as opposed to the South of Brazil in the mid 1800’s). Immigrants from the South started the coffee farms. Likely farmers whose livelihood was ruined when 2 severe frosts killed millions of coffee trees in southern Brazil in 1975 and 1978. Since the farms are relatively new, they all use fermentation tanks and wash the coffee instead of semi washed or natural processing. This leads to a smoother more consistent cup. The weather on the plateau is such that there are multiple flowerings of the trees which means uneven maturation of the cherries. So picking here is done mostly by hand instead of by machine as in most of the rest of the country. The two producers are using Red Catuai and Yellow Catuai varietals and grown at 950 masl for a nice smooth cup.
Creamy sweetness, medium/full body and very smooth

I’m a long time customer of Orens and have enjoyed their coffees for years. For someone who likes low acidic coffees this one , as the say, is the one. It has a great taste and and is very smooth.

I’ve been drinking Oren’s coffee since he opened his first store on the upper east side. Occasionally I have tried other coffee roasters but keep coming back to Oren’s since it is heads and tails above all the others. And for all these years he continues to maintain a high quality and variety to keep things interesting and certainly to keep my loyalty. Really like the Brazil but one of my favorites is the KGB blend (Kenya Nyeri, Guatemala Antigua, Brazil Fazenda)
